Currently, the Norwood Library receives public funds from Norwood Village and the Town of Potsdam.
The creation of the Norwood Public Library District will equalize tax distribution and allow the library to be funded at a more sustainable level. The district will cover the portion of the Norwood-Norfolk Central School District that lies in the towns of Potsdam and Stockholm, as indicated by the red line on the map above.
This new district assures that there are no service area overlaps and that funding will be collected only from taxpayers that are not currently paying taxes for a neighboring library (Norfolk or Potsdam).
